Art Program

My work presents the figure as a symbol through the encapsulation of dualities, almost bordering on sacrilegious if context not understood. I am drawn to the construction of symbols and forms with three main questions in mind:

 

Is it possible to honor tradition within a community and culture while challenging it’s present?

 

Is it possible to be "in” this world, yet not “of” it and in so doing, create something beautiful, yet broken?

 

What happens to those who simply cannot “fit in” to societal expectations and accepted norms?
